It is January 1st, 1967
that was born the General Congolese of Ores, the
most often named GECOMIN. Beginning all recent
therefore and yet, this birth composes a page of
history of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Important page, because she/it relates a
determining mutation, the one that gave to the
nation the means of his/her/its real
independence, the economic independence.
This mutation operated itself by the volontée of
the Congolese people, expressed by his/her/its
President, Lieutenant General-Joseph Wanted
Mobutu. Difficult birth however because the
circumstances were hardly favorable and the
éceuils was multiple. The stop of the sales and
therefore the absence of returns, the cut of the
lines of provision and some auxiliary services
was the main of it. The cape had passed
nevertheless: the operation survival was led with
success, grace probably to the determination of
each to fight jointly. Within the Gecomin,
workers, technicians, engineers and leaders
shared a same will of fight. They succeeded in
maintaining the production to his/her/its normal
level thanks to a freely agreed discipline and to
their fierce labor. It was from then on possible
to believe in the future. we believed there. With
reason.
The signature of a technical cooperation
convention with the General Society of Ores,
February 15, 1967, permitted to bring a solution
to our big problems. The immediate effects of
this cooperation were the resumption of the sales
and stores, the working of the auxiliary services
and the stabilization to the level wanted of the
strength of the foreign technicians. This
cooperation didn't stop consolidating
itself/themselves since then.
Certainly, there were thereafter in
1967 a lot of other difficulties to surmount. It
is necessary to remember the messes that resulted
from the revolt of the mercenaries especially and
that threatened the very existence of our young
society. The danger was separated but it left
from it bruised.
Re-established quickly, the Gecomin not only
succeeds in making in 1968 one year of
correction, but she accomplishes that year the
performance to reach a concrete stage of the
development of his/her/its production capacity.
1969 will have seen this process intensifying, in
the more scientific scheduling line.
Thus, the clairvoyance and the team spirit of our
leaders, the faith and the dynamism that enliven
our staff, foreign as much that Congolese, are as
many factors that open the largest perspectives.
Especially encouraging perspectives than they are
located in this political stability climate that
characterizes Congo of today.
